I find it disheartening and offensive that someone would use therapeutic techniques to deflect responsibility, especially in a leadership position. I was questioned about an editorial I wrote titled: When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time, and while I welcome questions, it’s frustrating when I’m asked to submit questions, only for them to be used to avoid addressing the original concerns. Despite the confronting nature of the questions, they were necessary given the circumstances. Superintendent Pete Licata’s letter to the editor, intended to answer those questions, veers off course. Some say it’s a pattern for him. You draw your own conclusion.
Here is the text of my requested questions sent to Mr. John Sullivan Communications Director for Superintendent Licata:
Here are a few questions that I have for superintendent Licata.
Cutting straight to the chase.
- How are you actively fostering relationships with each individual board member?
- In what way do you perceive your role in facilitating collaboration among Board members to advance the agenda?
- What is your response to the strained relationship with specific board members, namely Rupert, Zeman, and most recently, Alston?
- How do you address the reported pattern of being short-tempered, using offensive terms, and maintaining a rigid leadership style?
- Regarding the recent confrontation with Torey Alston during a workshop recess, do you believe your actions were appropriate? Is this incident part of a larger pattern, and can you provide insight into what transpired?
- Following the reported confrontation with Alston, it is mentioned that you sought intervention from another Board member. What specific request did you make of that Board member?
