Getting insured during a Pandemic Part II.

Who can I trust to give good solid advice? Welcome back to a three part series on ‘Is My House On Fire?’ Getting insured during a pandemic.

In part one we shared information about our current environment in business Nationally and Locally. We asked several questions in reference to knowing what you have in place and the importance of knowing what’s in-force, active, terms, interest rates, term length and investment strategy.

And now we come to the part where you need to decide who to work with. This can be challenging for some because of variety of personalities of individuals in the financial advising and insurance industry.

Training is one thing, personality and reputation another. I believe it is paramount that whoever you choose to work with is well trained and has a support staff well versed in all of your needs.

A full financial service system can assist you in knowing where all of your important information is at your fingertips. A complete personal Portfolio. I highly recommend such a plan as this because it can simplify the gathering of certain documents and eliminate lost time and money in a time that can be stressful and overwhelming.

Having an advisor that is trustworthy and knowledgeable or accessible to getting the most accurate, ethical, reliable information that can be customized to fit your needs is ideal.

How do I find that individual?

There are hundreds of very reputable insurance companies out there with thousands of good people working for them. Companies are rated by five independent rating agencies similar to your credit score. There is also a Comdex Rating for life insurance companies.

As far as agents and advisors, this industry if filled with dedication, loyal professionals that would want nothing more for you, then for you to have tremendous success. They have made it their passion, their life’s work.

However, the connection is not always made with the right person. Being relatable and respected sometimes plays an important part for you the client. The agent/advisor isn’t always the right fit. Finding that right advisor might mean talking to a few representatives, or being introduced by friends or colleagues who’ve worked with likeminded individuals.

Don’t give up!

Regardless of the possible challenge, I encourage all of us to do our due diligence and find out what we may be missing. My house may be on fire and I don’t even know it. See you next week for part three, ‘What’s right for me or for my family.
