Letter To: Vice President Kamala Harris

“A chauvinistic America, SCOTUS, and Republican Party shouldn’t  embrace Evangelicals’ dogma  and treat  women as livestock and poultry!”   John Johnson II, 01/31/24

By John Johnson II

Dear Vice President Harris,

I want to commend both President Biden and you for courageously taking on the challenge of defending women reproductive rights.  You have personally taken on the responsibility of serving as the point person to lead this fight. I’ve watched you on TV gallantly address supporters as well as face the naysayers. Your ability to graciously, with that convincing smile of determination, deflect the endless onslaught of demagoguery. Unquestionably, this isn’t an easy task, but it’s just one more thing that you’re determined to tackle.  Your election as VP is proof that women can shatter glass ceilings and even lead America as president.

Unfortunately, throughout history until the early part of the 20th century, women were the   chattel property of men. During the 18th century, women were declared witches if they merely recanted a dream about a dead child. The Salem witch trials are a clear example of how people misused their religion and ideology. For they not only prosecuted these women as witches, along with men, they convicted and hanged them.  Even with the passage and ratification of the 15th Amendment on Feb. 3, 1870, women still couldn’t vote. Men deemed the woman suffrage movement a “backward step in the progress of civilization.” Further, men once proclaimed that women didn’t possess the intellect to engage in political matters. Now, they’ve ruled that women and their doctors can’t make decisions about their reproductive health.

History again shows that during the 19th and early 20th centuries, men organized an anti-suffrage movement equally as vial as the now 21st century anti-women reproductive rights movement. Men once alleged that suffrage would cause men to fail to support dependent women, cause a dramatic increase in divorce rates, and force women into the labor market. History also fails to highlight the vigilant roles Black women and other women of color, such as Nina Otero-Warren and Mabel Lee (1912), played in the   women suffrage movement.   Women didn’t surrender. Yet it took 50 years, with passage of the 19th Amendment on August 18, 1920, for women to gain the right to vote.

VP Harris, anti-abortion is a denial of women’s’ unalienable rights. Further, it’s literally insane to pass “medieval” like legislation that imposes prison or even the death penalty for women having an abortion. Republican legislators have even resurrected an abstraction of the “Fugitive Slave Law and given it a new meaning. They’re now using this draconian legislation to criminalize pregnant women and minors crossing state lines to get an abortion. The question remains, ”why men   have an insatiable lust for power over women’s bodies, careers, wages, status in the religious hierarchy,  access to contraceptions and presidential aspirations.

Nevertheless, men dare anyone to question their rights to erectile dysfunction (ED) medications or rights to purchase guns. Former president Trump wants unmitigated immunity for any crime he might commit, even should he order an assassination of a disloyal Vice president or political opponent. It’s likely Trump would need more than one day as a “Dictator” to execute his potential slate of assassinations. It’s utterly preposterous, an indicted former president, in pursuit of the presidency, can boasts about assassinating Americans! It’s crucial that President Biden and you reassure the American people will be protected against foreign terrorist and domestic terrorists, especially Republican Congresspersons aligning with X-president Trump.

Are women without reproductive rights and access to contraceptives going to be left defenseless against pregnancy?  This is not only cruel and inhumane, but obliterates every freedom delineated in the US Constitution. If time permits, please read my article entitled, “Women Treated as Livestock & Poultry,” published in The Westsidegazette.com/Opinions.

I remain confident that despite the struggles, the Reproductive Rights movement will prevail. Because of your true grit, integrity, and experience as a District Attorney and Senator, President Biden picked the right woman to be his VP! As s second term VP, the expectations for delivering for the American people are sky high.

The formula for Biden’s Presidential Victory is as follows: Presidential Victory = (Registered Voters + Actual Voters)2 + (Swing States)

Sincerely,

John Johnson II

YOU BE THE JUDGE!
