The Lighthouse of Broward hosted a Back-to-School Splash for approximately 50 blind and visually impaired children as well as their families at Quiet Waters Park Splash Adventure reserved specifically for them.
School-age youth, ages 7 to 17, celebrated the end of summer by splashing around in a fun water playground with slides, tunnels, turn valves, wheels and levers, water curtains and more. Each young person took home loaded backpacks, which include adaptive school supplies like bold line paper, magnifiers, Braille paper and 20/20 pens.
Sponsors who have stepped up to sponsor this watery event were Gregory the Great Catholic Church and Century Metals & Supplies, Inc.
The mission of Lighthouse of Broward is to provide the leadership, services, advocacy, and resources necessary to enhance the lives of people who are blind and visually impaired in Broward County and empower them to live independent, healthy, employed, and fulfilling lives.
