    By Robert Frazier

The Miami Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has proven that fraternity life is not left behind on college campuses, nor is the group’s commitment to public service.

That is why while also serving as host local chapter of the Fraternity’s regional 64th Provincial Meeting, the Miami Alumni Chapter will also be named the Southern Province’s Alumni Chapter of the Year(Medium size), at a public meeting on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 7 p.m., at the Hilton Downtown Miami Hotel (1601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL 33132).

The Miami Alumni chapter will be recognized for its contributions made to the Miami community, such as working with the Women’s Breast Health Initiative, Travon Martin Foundation, Big Time Boys, Little Haiti Optimist Club, Farm Share and the Archbishop McCarthy Seniors Residence.

More than 580 members of the fraternity are expected to attend the conference including the Fraternity’s Grand Polemarch or National President, William “Randy” S. Bates, Jr., Esq. Also in attendance will be Thomas L. Battles, Jr., the Fraternity’s Senior Grand Vice Polemarch or National Vice President, a native of Miami, and graduate of Miami Central High School and Regional Director, Southeast Region, with the U.S. Department of Justice, Community Relations Service in Atlanta, Georgia.
