Longshoremen’s Union #1526 – Another high-tech lynching, only this time it comes from within

Longshoremen’s Union #1526 – Another high-tech lynching, only this time it comes from within

By: Richard Campbell

This is in response to “Former ILA President, Darryl “Mike” Payne and his Executive Assistant, Mrs. Wade-Brown” having been accused by certain of his union brothers, of abusing a fiduciary trust. Are they both victims of yet another “high tech lynching”?

History has already taught us and we further beg the question, why is it so ravenously popular and cowardly convenient for betrayers, who cannot themselves rise to a certain level magnitude, that they, like a pack of wild dingoes, seek to bring down,  to destroy and to devour.

Julius Caesar had Brutus, Othello-Iago and more recently Justice Thomas survived Anita Hill.

Former Naval Commander WF Carey, Justice Thomas and Darryl “Mike” Payne have never met. Yet they have much in common.

All share a zeal for excellence in their service to community and nation. Mr. Payne has served as an executive board member and or has volunteered time to causes such as the NAACP, Cooperative Feeding Program, Friends of Children and The Sickle Cell Foundation.

Mr. Payne has served our union as a strong representational leader, frequently visiting the men on the docks and meeting with stevedores at the port.

Jobs increased during Mr. Payne’s watch, not decreased. While president, there was an average total of 70 personnel jobs for each large cruise ship. That number has woefully been decreased. Why?

Please note that the arrival in Port Everglades of the two world’s largest cruise ships happened during Mr. Payne’s tenure as president of the ILA.

When members of your own “house” have delivered you up to be executed, it raises questions. Passion, ambition and envy should never be deployed to condemn. Did the finder of fact in this tribunal make a mistake? We will not abandon our great leader. We have set up a legal defense account with Bank-of America (account # 002290827402 or P.O. Box 8303 Fort Lauderdale, FL 33310) for anyone willing and/or able to assist Brother Payne during these difficult times. Solidarity Forever!
