TAMARAC, FLA.– The City of Tamarac’s Mayor, Michelle J. Gomez was recently accepted into the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Leadership Institute, a real estate-focused leadership program dedicated to developing the region’s emerging land use and real estate leaders.

Gomez will participate in the 2022 Leadership Institute for the Southeast Florida/Caribbean District, which covers coastal counties from Indian River through Monroe, and throughout the Caribbean Islands. She is one of 35 leaders chosen through a competitive application process. During the program, participants will attend in-person sessions covering a range of topics from Design and Construction to Development and Capital Markets, as well as complete a leadership project that addresses land use and policy issues.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from leaders at ULI and fellow participants,” said Gomez. “With the gained experience, I hope to help our wonderful City continue with its strategic, creative, and smart growth.”

The eight-month program is designed to cultivate leadership skills, educate participants on the area’s most critical land use and community development issues. It also gives them the tools and skills needed to help address these challenges.

Urban Land Institute is the oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate and land use experts in the world. Established in 1936, ULI is a nonprofit education and research institute with almost 45,000 members across the globe dedicated to advancing and transforming communities worldwide.

Upon completion, Gomez will join a cohort of more than 70 industry leaders from the South Florida region who have participated in the program since its inception in 2018.
