Architect Laura M. Perez & Associates, Inc. and Construction Manager @Risk: T&G Contractors have been commissioned to deliver the $14 million project, which includes a new three-story classroom building with covered walkways and landscaping.

Third-grader Angie Vega, who made a presentation about her school during the event, likes the changes that are coming. “It’s going to make this school better and safer, and we will have more space to do activities and fun stuff around the school.”

Angie’s mother, Jenny Torres, is also Comstock’s PTA President. She said the GOB project made her very happy because not only will the classrooms have more privacy, but there also will be added security.

The teachers were also thrilled with the project. Said reading coach Karen Haymon, “I can’t wait till it happens! This GOB project will be a great thing for our students. Not only will it provide a great learning environment, which sets the stage for learning, it will open up the kids’ eyes, and we will be able to continue what we always do, and that’s teach.”

The school bond projects resulted from voter approval of the $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond. The bond is being used to modernize and construct school buildings throughout the District, expand student capacity, enhance facility safety, and provide technology upgrades at all schools.
