Last weekend was Dillard High School’s homecoming. Their homecomings are always a huge celebration and it turns into a reunion for the entire community.

There’s always a lot of celebrations before the game.

A street parade featuring one of the best high school marching bands in the country showed off their stuff, drawing families to the historic Sistrunk district as they perform down the street.

One of the highlights for this year was the remarkable tailgate which featured former classes of Dillard where each class set up their own hospitality tent with everything from fried fish to hot souse. My sister graduated from Dillard in the class of 2001.

Several thousands people always show up but this year there appeared to be a lot more.

Compared to the tailgating, the game was not that exciting. Dillard played Hollywood Hills, Dillards won outscoring the Spartans 61-0.

“Change your thoughts and you change the world”Norman Vincent.

Today in our society there is so much negativity and madness in the world. It’s only gonna get worse if we keep doing the same thing and not expressing change. There is so much positivity that can come from the  negativity. If everyone accepts that there are issues in this world, and if we all just simply come together and work together, we can slowly but surely develop more happiness. Everyone has their own priorities and most of their priorities aren’t important. A person can say that they’re going to do something, but if there is no action then their words aren’t useful or valued.
