Nunnie on the Sideline

Speculation among sports pundits and analysts is that Ja Morant may have been reaching out for help subconsciously based on a tweet or post  to parents and daughter ending with the word “by.” It was alarming enough though prudent that someone called authorities requesting a wellness check. His explanation intimated that he was taking a break from his social media platforms. We pray that he has a positive outcome and a long and successful pro basketball career.

Despite the plethora of injuries besetting the Heat toward the conclusion of the regular season, entering the playoffs as the eight seed and with a roster of undrafted free agents, the Miami Heat did the so-called impossible and inconceivable by defeating the Boston Celtics on their home court in a win or go home game. It was a victory made even more incredible after the heartbreaking, devastating game six loss in Miami on Derek White’s nanosecond put back. Frankly, game seven in Boston wasn’t even close. The question begs: How could an assumed less talented team so thoroughly dominate the championships caliber Celtics? Imagine the physical and mental energy expended by the Celtics to overcome an 0-3 deficit. Losing those first two games in Boston basically sealed their fate. The Miami Heat culture is a genuine concept that permeates throughout the entire organization.  And as the second eight seed to make the NBA Finals, it is not above the realm of possibility that this Heat team could upset the Mighty Denver Nuggets. GO HEAT!!

While watching the game, I was informed by a family member about a shooting incident in Hollywood on the beach. America is better than this. We must start electing politicians courageous enough to pass legislation nationally to end this senseless gun violence.

We also applaud the Florida Panthers and wish them well as they travel to Las Vegas to battle the Golden Knights. GO PANTHERS.
