Palm Beach County Branches NAACP Get Out the Vote rally and luncheon

    Submitted by Linda Johnson

Palm Beach County Branches of NAACP will kick off its Freedom Fund activities with a Get Out the Vote rally and membership luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport, 150 Australian Ave., West Palm Beach, Fla. The theme of the event is “This Is My Vote” which is part of the National effort to engage communities in defending and exercising their right to vote.

The NAACP is promoting a national campaign to combat voter suppression in and around the country this election year. Lia Gaines, president of the West Palm Beach Branch stated that “Florida is under assault by various forms of Voter Suppression ranging from disenfranchisement through new Voter ID requirements, purging, early voting curtailment, and turning back the clocks on restoration of rights procedures.”

Linda Johnson, Palm Beach County Branches NAACP coordinator states, “Our goal is to bring local and state leaders, and community and civil rights activists together to interact and prepare to rally folks to have their voices heard in this important upcoming General Election.”

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to support the programs of the Palm Beach County Branches in carrying out the National objectives of the NAACP.  Contact Linda Johnson, (561) 985-0379, lfjnaacp@aol.com or Lia Gaines, (561) 307-7090, gainesbedr@aol.com
