Congressman Cedric Richmond (D-LA) has been appointed Senior Advisor to the President and Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. His appointment gives the CBC and Black communities generally a direct line to top leadership in the Biden White House.
While in Congress, Richmond held a number of leadership positions, including Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, House Democratic Assistant to the Majority Whip in the U.S. House of Representatives, and membership on the prestigious House Ways and Means Committee. The 47-year-old Morehouse College and Tulane Law School graduate was also co-chair of Biden’s presidential campaign.
