Peter Traceit, The Street Detective, has been visited by some old talk. What’s been shared is that the hoodwinked Sixth Street Mafia is recurring new members that include current and former senators, lobbyists and wannabe commissioners with other behind the scene people and noted organizations, working to intimidate and keep others from running for offices.
Voices from the shadows are speaking out saying, “follow the monies from developers and see what develops in the commissioner races. The finances from developers and power-hungry people that want to control the destiny of Broward County are at work even in our churches.
The street detective is also hearing that there’s a group of people who are trying to persuade Black folk to believing that a strong mayor is good for them and the possibility of a Black mayor of Broward is lurking in the shadows; however, that person will only be a puppet.
The streets are talking; who is listening?
Oz’s Last Sermon. It’s high school graduation time and students are choreographing their best stage walks while parents are making the difficult decisions about who will get one of the five valuable tickets to attend. Sadly, for most the last time many of them will walk across the stage to receive accolades and bona fide certification of their academic achievements, will only be viewed by a few.
Former District five school board member, Dr. Osgood, can’t seem to walk away from the cameras. Like a moth to a flame she is drawn to photo ops of high school graduations. Could it be she is either reconsidering her option to jump into her old school board seat race or using every drop of connections left to be in the room with State Senate District 22 constituents. She does have an opponent now, Pat Williams.
Oz could be found in the audience’s special guest seating at Piper High and Dillard High on Saturday. But on Monday, Oz took the center stage for the last time to deliver the commencement address at Lauderhill 6-12. The intensity of her commencement addresses over the years at Lauderhill 6-12 has been likened to a sermon of a Baptist pastor. It is long, has a main theme with three or four points. It is quite the showstopper with a hosts of “amens” and high fives. Who would expect less for Oz’s Last Sermon.
Lauderhill 6-12 has less than 50 graduates and with students each getting five tickets, the audience was probably no more than 250 potential voters, I mean guests.
The question on everyone’s mind is will Oz be able to permanently cut her ties with the school district when the district five board member is elected and takes the seat in November? Will she bestow the same grace to the one that follows her as Mr. Fantastic, Ben Williams provided to her?
