Rep. Deutch, Pompano Mayor Fisher  accepts  $100,000 NEA Grant

On Aug. 22, Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22), Pompano Beach Mayor Lamar Fisher, the city commissioners, and the city manager announced the awarding of a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant to the City of Pompano Beach.

The NEA “Our Town” grant supports projects that incorporate arts and culture into community revitalization efforts. The City of Pompano Beach will receive $100,000 to support the Pompano Beach Cross-roads project, a collaborative project of the City, the Creative Arts Collaborative, and the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency.

The Pompano Beach Cross-roads project aspires to create and connect public art and performance art along a one-mile “trail” from the new Pompano Beach Cultural Center and Bro-ward County Library, through historic commercial “Old Town Pompano” and along Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to the Interstate-95 overpass. The multi-media project will create interactive connections between the Cultural Center, Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) and Ali Cultural Arts (Ali) utilizing public art, performance art, “drop-in” activities, literary events and digital projections with built-in “augmented reality.”
