Although midterm elections aren’t until November 2022, you would not be able to tell with the way Paul R. Wiggins is vigorously approaching his campaign for the Broward County School Board District 1 seat. His passion for community and the best interests of our children’s education was on full display last week during his official Campaign Kickoff Fundraiser.   The event, which took place on October 21st at Pita Xpress Mediterranean Grille in Fort Lauderdale, was complemented by smiling faces, great networking, and a delicious spread of Mediterranean cuisine.

Notable community influencers in attendance included Mayor Tamara James of Dania Beach, Bishop Eric Jones, who served for over 15 years as the City of West Park’s very first mayor, and  Mayor Felicia Brunson, current Mayor of West Park.

Mayor James, who recently endorsed the Wiggins Campaign, opened the evening with an energetic speech, stating “[Paul Wiggins] is running for Broward County School Board District 1, and if you have any ties to our educational system, you know why this is such a big deal.  It’s a big deal for our communities, our children, our district, and our parents!”

Former Mayor Eric Jones, another early endorser of the Wiggins campaign declared, “It is now time to have someone within the community who is more aware of what’s going on with our kids, most aware of what’s going on in our schools to make sure our schools get the same type of service and materials, especially that are [received] in private and charter schools.”

The highlight of the night belonged to the man of the hour, where he delivered a heartfelt, passionate and compelling speech.  Candidate Wiggins began by introducing immediate family members who were in attendance, thanking them and showing gratitude for their continued support, which led into a brief family history as it related to education and the values that were instilled in him from childhood.  From there, Wiggins went on to outline exactly why he was running for the School Board District 1 seat and his objectives to improve the educational experience of the students of Broward county.  The message was clear — Paul R. Wiggins cares about our children and our community.

In the coming months, the Wiggins Campaign team plans to collaborate with other locally owned and operated restaurants like Pita Xpress Mediterranean Grille to host a series of events promoting positive community involvement in education– the true embodiment of the Paul R. Wiggins Campaign slogan, “Education is a Community Affair.”  In addition to these events sponsored by the campaign, members of the community can look forward to a Thanksgiving food drive to benefit families in need, and locals can expect to see more of Candidate Wiggins as he begins his door-to-door canvassing with his team.  For more information on how to volunteer with the Paul R. Wiggins Campaign, view upcoming events, and donate online, please visit www.ElectPaulR.Wiggins.com
