Sistrunk Historical Organization Honors Local Outstanding Achievers and Awards Four $5,000 Scholarships

     FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — On June 15, 2019, the Sistrunk Historical Organization held their Night of Success and Endless Opportunities Scholarship Gala at the Urban League Empowerment Center.

During an evening of laughs, courtesy of host Comedian Chris Priester, the organization honored the following “Outstanding Achievers”:

• Ashley L. Eubanks, CEO of The Beauty Initiative Inc, Community Outreach Award
• James F. Griffin, II, Broward County Public Schools Principal, Education Award
• Marie “Miss Peaches” Huntley, CEO of On-Call Leadership, Inc., Community Activist Award
• Apostle John L. Mohorn, Jr., Pastor, The Word of the Living God Ministries, Clergy Award

Four recent high school graduates each received a $5,000 scholarship from the organization. The recipients include the following deserving awardees:

• Bianna-Leig Bennett, Fort Lauderdale High School
• Kylie Davie, Stranahan High School
• Shellanda Melidor, Fort Lauderdale High School
• Temitope Ounnaike, Stranahan High School
