Stranahan student named Board President of Pre-engineering society

    By Tiffany Willis-Gilmore

Arianna Davis, Honors/Engineering magnet student at Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will serve as the first chairperson of the Pre-Engineering Society 4 Youth.  She ranks fourth in her class with a 4.8 GPA. Outside of academics, Arianna is currently Historian for the Florida International University’s National Achievers Society (NAS) Executive Board. She is an alumna of the National Youth Leadership Conference and serves on the Philosophy Guild at Stranahan. Arianna participated on the Math Team for NAS from 2011 to 2014. In her free time, Arianna enjoys anime and is a co player. Arianna is a former member of both the National Junior Honor Society and the Emerging Young Leaders (sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.). Arianna also competed in the Little Miss Fashionetta pageant. Her ultimate career goal is to become a video game proGrammer and artist.

The founder, William Thomas Gilmore, indicated that having Arianna as board president will “reflect the energy, mobilization and creativity of the club and allow for an expanded network.” He went on to say that her scope of engineering is in the area of animation/video gaming whereas his has an aerospace engineering focus. The club even helps students in resume building and offers recommendations in order to strengthen students’ chances of entering in their area of engineering.

Pre-Engineering Society 4 Youth is a club for both middle and high school students interested in becoming engineers. It allows students the opportunity to learn about schools, programs and trends in engineering so that they may make informed career decisions. The membership is free and open to all middle and high school students. Membership includes six monthly teleconferences, membership bio highlights and two annual meet-ups. The next meet-up is scheduled for October 2014 (location TBD). For more info: preengineeringsociety4youth@gmail.com  or call (786)408-3240.
