The Democratic Party is underperforming

Virginia flipped its gubernatorial affiliation on Nov. 2.  The state went with Republican Glenn Youngkin in an upset of incumbent Democrat Terry McAuliffe.  Across the country, in off-year elections, Republicans gained political ground.

What is abundantly clear is that Democrats are not satisfied with leadership of the party.  I have seen several commentaries that suggest disappointment that the party, which controls all three parties of the government leadership, have not excelled their agenda.

During president Donald Trump’s era, the Republican party held control of all three phases, and they enforced their agenda.  It appears that Democrats are too complacent.  The party appears to be more concerned with trying to be fair that enforcing the parties’ goals.

While it appeared unscrupulous the way the Republican party forced its issues and initiatives on the country, it was appealing to the fanbase.  I will forever believe that if Trump was able to tone down his rhetoric even just one percent, he would have retained the presidency of the United States.  He had a way of energizing his political/fan base because of the way he and the party came with ideas and used every resource to execute them.

Currently, the Democratic party is trying to fulfill the campaign promises they made in order to get elected but are falling to the stalling and thwarting techniques of the Republican party.  In the end, while many of the stall tactics implemented by Republicans are unethical as everyday Americans suffer the consequences of inaction, Democratic voters have turned the blame to the party itself.  Keep in mind we just saw four years of ramrodding agendas from the Republican with control of power; but here we are at virtual stalemates on items that need to be moved on…they were promised.

A struggling family who needs assistance doesn’t want to hear of the issues of the Democratic party.  They just saw the Republican Move under Trump’s direction and wonder why the Democratic party isn’t moving under Biden’s.  In fact, some are beginning to blame U.S. President Joe Biden and vice president Kamala Harris for inaction.

The Democratic party must use every technique available to push their agenda.  As for now, their promises have gone unkept and the pulse of their support base is growing ever resentful.

The issue is that there was such a push to get the Biden-Harris ticket into office that promises had to be made.  A record number of people came out to vote in the 2020 election and it was largely due to the threat of a second term for Trump.  His emboldened actions had become too much for non-Republicans.  In fact, it had become too much for some Republicans as well.  People like late General Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice had denounced the evil-spirited nature of Republican politics under the Trump regime.  Some members even left the party and resigned as they could not morally continue the pattern of behavior under the previous administration.

The issues in the Republican party pale in comparison to what is going on with the Democratic party.  All momentum gained in 2020 were certainly lost in the Nov. 2 elections.  The needle is leaning towards an America that will accept more moderate Republicans than Trump.  That is a big reason for the turnover in Virginia.  Democratic leaders better take note and begin to fulfill their promises or 2022 and 224 will be very bad for the party.  With promises unfulfilled, all the congress, senate and presidency may all return to red.
