The KEY FAMILY LEGACY

“LOVE”  By Mary Key

After reaching South Florida in the early 60s, the KEY family made  Fort Lauderdale their home. From a family of 4, they grew to a family of 7.

Over the next 40 years, the siblings went to neighborhood elementary and middle schools. The parents, James and Kathleen Key, became well known and loved by all in the community.

As each of the siblings graduated from middle school, they each entered “DRAGON NATION” – STRANAHAN HIGH SCHOOL.

From 1971-1985 they all wore Orange and Blue as they walked the stage on graduation day.

They went out into the world to serve our country in the United States Air Force, graduated from HBCUs, majoring in Accounting and Computer Science. They have led successful career paths that made their parents proud.

During this Black History month, we would like to honor a family that maintained family values with love and togetherness. This is the “KEY FAMILY LEGACY”.
