In celebration of Haitian Heritage Month and in efforts to promote healthy living, the Make Healthy Happen team recently sat down for an exclusive interview on the popular Haitian radio show, “Koze Fanm,” which broadcasts on WSRF 1580 AM.

“Our goal is to promote health and wellness messages that are inclusive to all residents of Miami-Dade County,” says Rachelle Theodore, Program Manager at the Florida Department of Health in Miami Dade County and a member of the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade. “Special thanks to Guylene Berry and the Koze Fanm family for helping us share these important messages to our Haitian community.”

Discussions during the taping included programs and initiatives of the Consortium and the launch of the current social media campaign. Listeners were encouraged to enter the Consortium’s#HealthyHappensHere social media challenge, which invites residents to show off their healthy habits. The winner receives a gift card to Shorty’s Bar-B-Q Restaurant.

Persons interested in viewing the recording can still do so by visiting the campaign’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/MakeHealthyHppn/.

Make Healthy Happen Miami is an initiative of the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade and the Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH). PICH focus areas include tobacco and smoke-free environments, environments with healthy foods or beverages, physical activity opportunities, and prevention of chronic diseases through clinical and community link-ages. Make Healthy Happen Miami is a message from the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, and is made possible with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
