How many of you remember WLAC radio out of Nashville Tennessee?

It was a far better experience than what we saw from the Tennessee legislature this week

If couldn’t get WLAC, you truly lived in DC (Damn Country)

For Black folk WLAC was where you could hear Black artists and get a break from Jim and Jessie and the Virginia Boys, Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn.

The Hoss Man, RandysbRecord Mart John R , commercials for Royal Crown Hair Dressing and Blue Magic made Radio fun.

There was no TV and gathering around the Radio was a family affair and our source of entertainment and information.

Amos n Andy, Beulah, Our Miss Brooks and Lone Ranger were staples as was, The Shadow!

You could order everything from Records to Chickens and we couldn’t wait to hear Santa Claus read our Christmas letters.

If by chance you had a really good radio WOWO from Chicago would come through and in Moultrie us was like being in heaven.

Roasting wieners or marshmallows in the bedroom fireplace was a great family time and I learned a lot from Willie and Frankie Mae!

Who had a transistor radio?

OMG life was so simple, and families actually talked

Family time and positive childhood memories are slowly eroding from our society.

What our children remember puts them in therapy more than anything else.
