    The Urban League of Broward County has achieved a significant milestone, with President and CEO Dr. Germaine Smith Baugh and Executive Vice President Courtnee Biscardi selected to join the prestigious 4th cohort of the Citi Foundation Community Progress Makers in Washington, D.C. This esteemed program brings together 50 socially impactful organizations from across the nation to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation with industry experts .

    Under Dr. Baugh’s leadership, the Urban League of Broward County has made substantial strides in empowering communities and changing lives. Since 2006, Dr. Baugh has spearheaded numerous initiatives, including the opening of the 28,000 sq.ft., Community Empowerment Center in Fort Lauderdale, which expanded the organization’s programs and services .

    The Urban League’s mission is to enable African Americans and others in historically underserved communities to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights. Their ADVANCE programs support nearly 14,000 individuals annually through affordable housing initiatives, youth development and diversion, employment and training, entrepreneurship, health, and civic engagement.

    Dr. Baugh’s dedication to creating opportunities for economic success has earned her numerous accolades, including recognition as one of South Florida’s Ultimate CEOs by the South Florida Business Journal .

    Her leadership has also secured significant funding, such as the $500,000 grant from The Jim Moran Foundation to promote racial equity in Broward County.

    *Jobs and Training*Promoting economic self-sufficiency through career building and job placement

    This achievement marks a significant step forward for the Urban League of Broward County, and the organization is eager to continue making a positive impact in the community.
