Who is Martie Lovely?

A Real Woman of Substance… that’s Who!

Principal Martie Lovely shares how her innovative thinking is impacting our AT RISK youths at Sunrise High School, in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Martie Lovely is so passionate about our youths future, she does not want anyone who walks through her school’s doors, to leave without having an opportunity to reach their full potential.

She has a very strong team of individuals, who also exemplifies this same behavior towards the students.

Principal Lovely started the Lovely Foundation for young, AT RISK girls to be self empowered. She teaches them how to love themselves and promote character building opportunities.

Lovely along with the assistance of Theodore S. Taylor – Founder of A Nu Foundation Trust Business Academy.

A Nu Foundation Trust Business Academy is a program that uses the applied skills to help students build a skill and Trade and as a group start their own business.

The two also implemented another program, which started at Sunrise High School for young AT RISK boys, called SAB – which stands for: “Strictly About Business.” This program teaches the AT RISK young men to tap into their musical talents.

Whether it is in front of the camera or behind the scenes, they are all equally learning the craft of developing, producing and recording the music.

Mrs. Lovely has them working with the finest musical talents in the industry, so that they could further their careers in this craft,

well after high school.

Based on the efforts provided, Mrs. Lovely has seen the fruits of her labor manifest by having her school Sunrise High School – Rated Most Commendable, three consecutive years in a row. That is the highest rating on the FLDOE Grading System a school could possibly achieve.

This graduating class has been awarded over $257,000 in scholarship money to help further their future.

They also donated 40 pints of blood, which also equates to 123 lives saved. These graduates, together, have donated over 7,550 community service hours back into their community.

The graduating class also created “Club Awareness,” to stand up for what you believe in – as well as to educate their underclassmen on the important matters concerning their future.

Lovely has so many more success stories to share about the great things that are happening with her school. She needs your help to give our youth a voice about all of the positive things they are doing within the community.

This school has made a tremendous impact on their students and the surrounding communities, while placing major emphasis on education, giving back to those who are less fortunate and creating a brighter future for our AT RISK Youths.

Frosty’s Flava Magazine Gets Up-close & Personal

FFM: Welcome Mrs. Lovely &

Thank you so much for sitting, sipping and sharing with Frosty’s Flava Magazine…

Can you please share some background with our readers about yourself, back to when you first started?

ML: My love for educating started by watching my mother who was an educator for 32 years.

I admired my mother’s passion to make a difference that she had for the students and community which inspired me to want to give, just like my mom and be a beacon of hope for the youth.

In 1998, I opened my first business, Leonard Reid Learning Academy, Inc. in Sarasota, FL. for low income mothers in a low-income housing area. It was in Sarasota that I began my own educational career as a social science teacher, and later, as an administrator of the PAL (Police Athletic League School). Later, I was named the Principal of the Clearwater Elementary School.

I currently hold the following degrees:

A.A. in Criminal Justice, B.A. in Psychology, Master’s in Educational Leadership, Specialist – Instructional Leadership.

FFM: How did you end up as the Principal at Sunrise High School?

ML: I was presented with the opportunity to be the Principal at Sunrise High School by a Palm Beach County School Representative who admired my work ethics. During that time, I was a Business and Economic Development Manager for the City of South Bay, but when this opportunity came about, my love for helping the youth overtook everything and I couldn’t pass that up.

FFM: What’s the driving force for your passion, support and purpose for doing what you do?

ML: The driving force for my passion, support, and purpose for what I do is simply the youth. Meeting the needs of the children and knowing that a difference is being made is very rewarding.

FFM: Where would you like to ultimately take this (much needed) Program?

ML: Ultimately, I want the world to be able to take advantage of this program. My goal is to make a global impact.

FFM: How do you think YOU can provide the same opportunities, services and resources for other children in other Areas.

ML: I can provide the same opportunities, services, and resources for other children in other areas by duplicating the formula that I’ve I created & implemented, which has also worked wonderfully for my kids, my staff and myself.

My plan has worked successfully for me, because a really big part of my plan consists of me going in and accessing the needs and the logistics of my entire environment.

I then create an effective plan by structuring an action-based goal specifically targeting the needs on; what we need to do to effectively help the students and how. Finally, I implement any necessary changes, while tracking the success of it.

FFM: How can other Educational Institutions, Agencies and Organizations implement a similar plan | system within their community?

How can investors benefit from this program?

ML: Other Educational Institutions, Agencies, and Organizations may implement a similar plan by having a consultation with Martie Lovely and her 5 Star Education Consulting Firm.

I have proven my results successfully. Upon entering Sunrise High School, there was low staff morale, very low numbers in enrollment, and

under a school improvement plan. Within 3 years of my leadership, the staff’s morale is very high and student’s enrollment has increased over 80% and has maintained enrollment numbers at an all time high.

Sunrise High School has received the highest recognition in the State of Florida and received

Commendable which is the highest level of rating one can receive in the State of Florida.

Who do you know wouldn’t want to invest in that?

FFM: What makes you believe that your Team of Educators, the tools, knowledge and resources that you’ve been using is making (not breaking) these kids future?

ML: My Team of educators tools, knowledge, and resources is making (not breaking) these kids future; because of the love and effort that is displayed, to help better each child.

There’s an old saying that; “The children are our future.” In essence, we have to show them better, to give them hope, for them to do better. Once they’ve done better, we have to continue to inspire them to remain consistent so that their future may be bright.

Frosty’s Flava Magazine wanted to take the initiative to shed some light on the amazing things that Principal Lovely and her entire staff has already accomplished; and what they continue to contribute to our children & our community.

In our next issue; join in on the conversation as Principal Lovely shares more of her goals, visions and the growth & great humanitarian acts; that both you and the youth in your communities can also bring to life!
