Willie Gary: FAMU Broward Chapter Unity Day speaker

    By Mary Smith

On Oct. 5, 2013, the FAMU Broward County Alumni Chapter will host its Third Annual Unity Day at the Courtyard Fort Lauderdale North/Cypress Creek, 2440 W. Cypress Creek Rd., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. at 10 a.m.

Atty. Willie Gary has earned his reputation as “The Giant Killer” by taking down some of America’s most well-known corporate giants on behalf of his clients. In May 2002, he was featured in Ebony magazine as one of the “100” Most Influential Black Americans” Forbes Magazine has listed him as one of the “Top 50 attorneys in the U.S.”

Known as a businessman, churchman, humanitarian and philanthropist, Gary is deeply involved in charity and civic work. He is committed to enhancing the lives of young people through education and drug prevention. “It is for this reason that his name was high on the list of possible speakers for our Unity Day program”, stated Eugena Anderson and Apryl Free-man, Young Alumni Chairpersons for the 2013 Unity Day Celebration.

Unity Day is a time that the Broward County Chapter focuses on providing information to the community, alumni, supporters, family and friends (all of our separate parts), on how to come together and strategize ways to rededicate ourselves to breaking down barriers in order to work towards a stronger understanding of issues affecting our university, students and community’s existence.

This year’s theme is “Reviving the FAM in U…Transitioning into a New Era, with a Unified Purpose” will be highlighted by Speaker, Attorney Willie Gary. All alumni, family, friends and community supporters are invited.

    For more information, call (954) 296-3519 or (954) 430-9760.
