YPN rooted in the mission of empowering communities

The Urban League of Broward County Young Professionals Network (YPN)  was established in February 2007, and we are the volunteer auxiliary of the Urban League of Broward County.  This year, we are celebrating 15 years of service to the Urban League of Broward County and our community at large. YPN continues to be a training ground for young professionals between the ages of 21-40 in the areas of professional development, civic engagement, community service, and fund development. Our chapter is one of 65+ young professionals chapters across the country affiliated with the Urban League.

Over the years YPN has supported the Urban League through volunteerism and during the COVID-19 pandemic we developed a series of virtual workshops designed to address the early onset of pressing needs due to COVID-19. We found it essential to equip the community with education, resources, and solutions regarding COVID-19 and its impact. The week-long virtual series covered a variety of topics including, What is COVID-19, Distance Learning During COVID, Urban League’s Virtual Solutions, Stimulus Package Breakdown, and Economy: The Impact of COVID-19.  As an agent of change, the Urban League of Broward County remains at the forefront of solutions by collaborating with local organizations to tackle food insecurity in the hardest-hit communities while closing gaps in health equity through advocacy, education and social change. YPN is grateful for the continued support.

We are rooted in the mission of empowering communities and changing lives. As we reflect on the work and foundation laid by our founders, past presidents, past and current executive leadership team members, members and the community-at-large; We are so proud of the impact that we have collectively made over these amazing 15 years!  In commemoration of our 15th anniversary, we launched our 15 for 15 campaign that encourages individuals to help us raise $15, and share this campaign with 15 friends and encourage your friends to donate to our campaign. The proceeds will be going to our Young Professionals Empowerment Scholarship Fund to assist deserving students at Deerfield Beach High School. Consider donating to our cause today to help young professionals give back to the next generation by visiting ulbroward.org/ypn-donate February serves as our “I AM Empowered Month’ we can’t think of a better way to empower our community than reach back to the next generation coming behind us.

We stand ready to help our members and community advance and we look forward to serving the Urban League of Broward County and our community for many more years to come.  To learn more about the Urban League of Broward County’s Young Professionals Network and to become a member, visit www.ulbcypn.org.
