In partnerSHIP with Mount Olive Development Corporation (MODCO), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Zeta Rho Omega Chapter, made significant contributions to the International Program’s End Hunger Initiative. It began with the after-math of Hurricane Irma and continued into the Thanksgiving holiday.

These are a few of the impactful activities for the various End Hunger Initiatives:

* As a result of Hurricane Irma many people lost food items. Eighteen gift cards were presented to the Angels of Hope of MODCO.

* After Hurricane Irma many victims were displaced from Puerto Rico to S. Florida.) We donated 50 back packs, 100 hygiene bags, and 300 food/snack bags.

* The chapter collected canned goods and non-perishable items at November’s sorority meeting, to present four “Baskets of Bounty” to needy families for the Thanksgiving holiday.

* In partnerSHIP with Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Danny L. McKenzie, Sr., the duo presented the “Thankful Thoughts of Thanksgiving” program, which concluded with a special $25 gift card presentation to 50 seniors in attendance. After the program, a scrumptious Thanksgiving meal was served by the members of the Zeta Rho Omega Chapter.

Hats off to the Barbara Lumpkins (chairman) and the Fabulous Family Strengthening Committee for their extraordinary efforts in our mission to end hunger! President Jeannie B. Floyd of Zeta Rho Omega and second Vice President/Executive Director of MODCO Dr. Rosalind Osgood were thrilled with the number of lives touched in the communities.
