When we talk about influential voices in Radio, we oftentimes refer back to the local Djs and Personalities names and voices we remember from our childhood. We are probably more likely to remember the station jingle, before we remember who exactly sang it or who ran that segment. But what if I told you right here in South Florida, we have a Radio Personality that is not only renowned and a veteran in the Radio and Media Industry, but is also a Humanitarian, Philanthropist, and Entrepreneur. That’s right, I am talking about none other than 99Jamz very own Supa Cindy.

This past Saturday, September 24th, Supa Cindy launched he very first Supa Cindy Concert at City of North Miami Beach Senator Gwen Margolis Amphitheater. Her concert consisted of a large vendor pool with vendors ranging from a line of food-trucks lined up outside the park, to tents serving natural juice beverages; to vendors selling high-end jewelry, waist-beads and custom handbags. The event also consisted of multiple local independent artist performances, a Special Hip-Hop Dance Number by the Miami-Dade Hip-Hop Kids, and Headliner Performance by Miami Native Rapper BallGreezy.

“I really love that Supa Cindy did for the community. She really deserves all the love and recognition for all the hard work that she does. She has given a lot back to this City,” said Nicki Montana, a Press Representative from 99 Jamz.”

Aside from the vendors, food, and mini-concert, Supa Cindy always had a 360 Photo Booth for friends and families to capture a visual moment of their experience, and even a kids corner directed for children with games, a bounce, and cotton candy. The event was FREE and open to the community and really captured the essence of building community, giving back, and celebrating music. Throughout the Day, she even had different Dj’s come out and perform a set. Both local Dj’s and 99 Jamz Radio Djs.

“I’v been watching Supa Cindy since I was a little Kid.” said late-night Radio Dj Dj Lucky C. “She’s someone who has been doing this for a very long time and to get finally get her flowers for being one of the many influential voices of Miami, is amazing. She really is a great person that loves to give back and help build others,” he added.

Supa Cindy was also presented with the Keys to the City on behalf of the City of North Miami Beach. Commissioner Daniela Jean, who is also of Haitian decent, presented Supa Cindy with this very prestigious award and Community Recognition towards the middle of the event program. It was a heartfelt moment, as the crowd bared witness to the pure joy that outpoured from Supa Cindy for the tribute.

“This means so much to me because you know it’s hard to believe, but I been in this career for 22 years. And I must say, my listeners are the reason for me to keep going  for all these years. They are my motivation. They are the reason I get up out of bed and drag myself to the station even when I am having a bad day, because I know they’re listening,” said Supa Cindy to The Gazette, during an Exclusive Interview with The Phoenix Tv.

With something for every demographic and all-ages, Supa Cindy’s inaugural Supa Cindy Day was a HUGE success! Though Mother Nature paid us a visit and brought some gusty winds and heavy rainfall, it was not enough to end the event. Patrons fled the open lawn and gathered closer to the stage under the canopy, to enjoy the rest of the performances and show lineup. After a 15 minute rain delay and program reset, Supa Cindy Day was back in action with performances of Local artists hitting the stage throughout the day. Giving them a platform to connect with The City of Miami and an opportunity to gain new potnatil followers and supports.

Though this was the first of many annual celebrations, it surely was a success. From the vendors, to the food trucks, to the special performances, and guest appearances— Supa Cindy Day was an action-packed ; fun-filled day with something for everyone to enjoy. From Music to 99 Jamz FREE giveaways, this event truly catered to its community by bringing quality programming and talent to the amphitheater main stage. I cannot wait to see what more Supa Cindy has in store for future celebrations. In fact, as a part of her build up for this event, she also hosted a food drive giveaway earlier during the week where she donated boxes of goods and fresh produce to local residents in need. Showing us the true meaning of celebrating life: being a blessing to others by giving back.
