On Saturday, September 13, the Zeta Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. once again showed what it means to live out the principle of Uplift. In support of the Zeta D.O.V.E. Foundation and the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County through the Broward County Health and Human Services Department, as well as the City of Fort Lauderdale Community Court initiative, the chapter hosted its annual Day of Service Drive-Thru Drop Off, inspired by the Florida Statewide Organization of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

From morning to afternoon, cars steadily pulled up to our Fraternity house located at 1108 NW 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale, dropping off donations of winter coats, baby diapers, wipes, infant clothing, feminine products, and toiletries. These essential items will go directly toward supporting unhoused individuals, expecting mothers, and infant children in our community.

The day carried extra meaning with the presence of the 35th Grand Basileus, Dr. Dorsey C. Miller, Jr., who not only lent his support but joined in fellowship with brothers and community members alike. His presence was a reminder that true leadership means being shoulder-to-shoulder with those you serve.

Yet, the most touching moment of the day came from a young 5th grader at North Fork Elementary School who, on his way to the library to read, stopped by simply to say hello. He chose to sit among Omega Men, to listen, to learn, and to be mentored. That simple exchange warmed our spirits and reminded us that service is more than donations; it’s about the lives we inspire and the examples we set.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to the community we serve for helping us serve someone else. Your generosity ensures that families in need will find hope, that mothers will be supported, and that the youngest among us will be cared for with dignity.

As Omega Men, service is not just what we do; it’s who we are. With your continued support, the Zeta Chi Chapter will keep answering the call to uplift, empower, and strengthen the Fort Lauderdale community.

That is Uplift in its purest form.
