Inequities Found in Flu Vaccine Uptake

Black, Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) adults in the United States are more likely to be hospitalized with flu, as well as less likely to be vaccinated against flu, according to a new CDC Vital Signs report. THE FIGHT FOR THE SOUL OF AMERICA: ‘22 MID-TERMS UNDOUTEDLY THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION IN OUR LIFETIME

This space is normally reserved for our Student/Athlete of the Week selection, but as in life, things don’t always materialize or happen as planned. So, as a somewhat social activist, I will use this opportunity to hopefully ignite a voting frenzy catapulting Charlie Chris, Val Demmings  Sheila Sherfilus McCormick et al to  victory in November. I don’t know what is occurring nationally, but here in Broward, mid-term elections on a scale of one to one hundred, appear to fall somewhere in the 20% range, closely resembling the pathetic, lukewarm voter enthusiasm of the  2022 primaries. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere

In 2018, the International Day of Love was forever changed for 17 families. A former student entered onto the campus of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School and opened fire with an AR-15, killing 17 and seriously injuring another 17. Fourteen high school students and 3 adults were gunned down like what you see in violent video games. An entire community was left paralyzed, and the world stopped for a few minutes to try to make sense of it all.  […]

They are only targeting the Black community, the 33311.  […]

At the start of COVID, Cassandra Esperant’s father was hospitalized for the disease and succumbed to it due to his comorbidities (pre-existing conditions). His daughter explained that in the beginning of COVID most people, including the nurses in hospitals, were unsure of what they were dealing with and were afraid. She remembers that the hospital staff was fully masked, and her father was placed in isolation. She was not allowed to visit. She would call the nurses’ station and request that her father receive water. She lives with the uncertainty of whether her father ever received the water to quench his thirst before he died.  Dr. Cassandra Esperant has wanted to be an advocate since she was five years old, her father’s treatment and death ignited that fire. Mexican officials are looking for shooters who opened fire in a bar in central Mexico on Saturday evening

According to the statement, paramedics verified the deaths of six males and six women after arriving on the site. It is unknown who the victims are or how many shooters took part in the attack.  The hunt for the assailants is underway, with assistance from Guanajuato’s Secretary of Public Safety, the state prosecutor’s office, the Secretary of National Defense, and the National Guard. This is the second mass shooting in less than a month in Guanajuato, which has been wracked by vicious turf warfare between rival drug gangs in recent years. […]
