       The 2024 convention began with the unveiling the “Marylanders Cry Freedom, Civil Rights at Home and Abroad” at Baltimore City Hall, which celebrated the 40th anniversary of Maryland’s divestment from South Africa’s apartheid regime in 1984.

     The 1st District Court of Appeal approved the state’s request for a stay of a ruling by Leon County Circuit Judge John Cooper and rejected a suggestion by the Floridians Protecting Freedom political committee that the dispute be sent to the Supreme Court — a move that would have essentially skipped consideration of the case by the appeals court. Floridians Protecting Freedom is helping lead efforts to pass the abortion amendment.

     Mrs. Robinson, a dedicated servant and leader of the Dillard community, has demonstrated an unmatched passion for teaching and learning. Her commitment, shared leadership, and winning personality have been the cornerstone of her success at Dillard High School. During her tenure she has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. As Principal, she has spearheaded countless educational and community initiatives, too many to list them all.      As the Black Press nears its bicentennial, the NNPA is celebrating its rich legacy and charting a course for its future impact on civic engagement and social justice. “Strengthening voter turnout, supporting families, and enhancing the financial stability of Black businesses are essential steps toward fostering a more inclusive and equitable society,” said NNPA Chair Bobby Henry. “This conference underscores the vital role of informing, educating, and mobilizing communities.”
