For the Cultural Conversations at the Center, Singletary will speak on “Love and Positivity,” telling his personal story of living, winning and thriving with HIV. His motivational talk will be followed by an audience question and answer segment where questions can be submitted anonymously at the event. Singletary brings a message of hope and faith to those dealing with HIV, reassuring them of support in their own communities and in the sight of God.

History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will honor the contributions and creativity of our African American community during its annual Black History Month celebration. This year’s Dillard Center for the Arts’ Advanced Placement (AP) student exhibition and sale will include mixed media, charcoal, photography and digital art. The students, along with guest curator Celestin Joseph, AP studio art instructor, will be available for a meet and greet on Sunday, Feb. 2, from 1 – 3 p.m., at the New River Inn. The show and sale will run through Wednesday, Feb. 26.
The Coral Springs-based Phi Xi Zeta chapter joins thousands of chapters around the world celebrating the 100th anniversary of Zeta Phi Beta Incorporated, a women’s service organization founded on the principals of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood. The chapter will celebrate the centennial at an awards luncheon recognizing an individual from the community for their leadership and service impacting education in Broward County. Recently, the Florida Department of Education released graduation rates for the 2018/19 school year. Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is proud to announce the District’s Federal Graduation Rate (includes traditional high schools, centers and charter schools) rose to 86.2%, which is nearly 15 percentage points higher than in 2011/12. The graduation rate for traditional District high schools only (excludes centers and charter schools) maintained its highest level from 2017/18, at 95.1%.
