On December 31, most African American churches have a watch night service. Watch Night, also called Freedom’s Eve, Christian religious service held on New Year’s Eve and associated, in many African American churches, with a celebration and remembrance of the Emancipation Proclamation (enacted January 1, 1863), which freed slaves in the Confederate states during the American Civil War.

We hope everyone has a great Christmas and happy new year! Can you believe that 2019 is over and so is the 2010 decade! At the start of the decade, I was an only child in daycare, and now I’m a big sister about to enter high school with two little brothers.

he CSC and The Jim Moran Foundation are expecting to budget approximately $3.8 million in FY 20/21 for the Healthy Youth Transitions 2020 Request for Proposals (RFP).  The intent of this RFP is to expand the availability of Transition to Independence Process (TIP) ModelŽ-focused independent living programs addressing the developmental and transitioning needs of dependent, delinquent, crossover, LGBTQ, and disconnected youth with a special focus on youth in foster care and/or non-traditional living arrangements.

Victor G. Harvey, Sr., owner of locally based Victor George Vodka (VG), recently completed his first of several scheduled acquisitions of property in the Sistrunk corridor by purchasing land at 1012 Sistrunk Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Harvey has plans to use the property as part of his plans to build a 13,000-square foot facility that will house the Old Sistrunk Distillery  along with a tasting room, restaurant, cigar bar, wine lounge, and meeting space for distillery-based private and corporate events in the area.

        Former Clemson defensive end Richard Yeargin, III,  who now plays for Boston College, has been named the recipient of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s 2019 Brian Piccolo Award, as announced by the league on Monday.
