        Get ready to be transported into the chilling world of Edgar Allan Poe as Pompano Beach Arts presents The House of Poe’s Horrors. This immersive haunted house experience will bring the author’s dark and twisted tales to life, offering guests a thrilling adventure filled with jump scares, surprises, and unforgettable memories. The Pompano Beach Cultural Center will be transformed into a mesmerizing maze of themed zones each inspired by a classic Poe story. From the eerie “Oval Portrait” to the terrifying “Pit and the Pendulum,” guests will encounter a variety of chilling scenes and encounters. The experience will run October 24-26, from 6-9pm. Each 30-minute experience is limited to 40 people at a time, tickets are $13 per person at www.pompanobeacharts.org.

   The Parker, a beloved cultural landmark in Fort Lauderdale, celebrated a major milestone on September 26 with the unveiling of a Florida Historical Marker.  Since opening its doors on February 6, 1967, The Parker has been a cornerstone of community life, hosting countless live concerts and shows. Originally built by Dr. Louis Parker and now managed by the Broward Center, this iconic venue has been a staple of Fort Lauderdale’s cultural scene for over five decades.

       The community came out on this past Saturday to join Carlton B. Moore Freedom Foundation, along with the HOT105 family, and legendary #chicothevirgo at Osswald Park in Fort Lauderdale as we celebrated the Fifth Annual Friends and Family Day in honor of the late Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner Carlton B. Moore.

        Squid Game Player 286, also known as Chad Van Horn, hosted a gathering at the Sparrow in Fort Lauderdale with fellow contestants of Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge to celebrate Van Horn’s run for Fort Lauderdale City Commission, District 2. Squid competitors in attendance included Player 016 Sam Lantz, Player 087 Kyle Christiansen, Player 077 Marina Palladino, Player 166 Louisa Warwick and Player 258 Amanda “Brownie” Brown.

City Manager Desorae Giles-Smith and FOP President Sgt. Joseph Nistor sealed the deal on September 30th, alongside key negotiators Vice President Det. Sam Smith and FOP Representative Sean Kelly. This mutually beneficial agreement outlines employment terms and conditions, fostering a stronger city-law enforcement partnership.”

     On Saturday, September 28, the Kinship Family Conference and the Children’s Service Council held a community event at the Mt. Hermon AME Church Life Center in Fort Lauderdale. You knew it was a community-driven event because it was structured to accommodate the clients and community served with benefits available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

       The U.S. Department of Education today recognized 356 schools as the 2024 cohort of the National Blue Ribbon Schools, including 15 schools in Florida. This prestigious recognition highlights schools that excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among different student groups.
