     I must preface this article by saying this behavior of White Fragility, and Karenism is a proponent of White privilege. Its infiltrations into our democracy is causing an erosion to what is being put into place to offer some form of equality to people like me, who want what’s right and are willing to fight for it.

     However, when Board member Daniel Foganholi shared his opinion on the toxic culture of the district and stated that the Board doesn’t want a competent superintendent but rather one they can control, the ladies responded angrily. Leonardi said she was offended and professed that Foganholi doesn’t know what is in their hearts. Following that line of thinking, then how do they know what is in Cartwright’s heart since they claim that “what is in her heart” makes them want to give her more time to prove herself.

    In 2018, the International Day of Love was forever changed for 17 families. A former student entered onto the campus of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School and opened fire with an AR-15, killing 17 and seriously injuring another 17. Fourteen high school students and 3 adults were gunned down like what you see in violent video games. An entire community was left paralyzed, and the world stopped for a few minutes to try to make sense of it all. 

     Oblivious to his surroundings and circum-stances for 20 years, I am not sure if Rip was sleep as we know sleeping to be or he was most likely simply walking around ignorant, unaware, and disenfranchised. In Spike Lee’s biography of Malcolm X, Denzel Washington gives this line: “Ya been hoodwinked! Bamboozled! Led astray! Run amok!” Whichever one that I choose to represent the total neglect of the possible progress that can be made in the state of Florida is overshadowed by the non-messaging that appeals to the Black voters.

Rip Van Winkle or Quieter than a church mouse

     Spike Lee wrote, directed, and acted in the movie, Do the Right Thing, some 30 years ago. He was trying to demonstrate that doing the right thing is not always doing what’s right. Sometimes we have the right to do something, but it is not necessarily the right thing.

     Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. The results of races came pouring in last Tuesday and there were some winners, some losers and some interesting “to be continued’” to come.

BCPS’ Tangled Web of Deception

   Reorganizing a company as large as BCPS can have its challenges, but Super Cartwright just makes it look so grossly unfair. I was disappointed, but not at all surprised to learn that a correction had to be made to the Spanish version of the Referendum. Ballots have been printed and early voting has begun, yet someone at Broward Schools (of course, not Cartwright as she has a history of pointing the finger of blame to someone else) failed to ensure the language was correct on the ballot; therefore, a correction has been created. But, how will voters be informed?
