A Child of the Civil Right Movement

We just stood there. Daddy called us into the house and explained to us who those men were. He explained that there was trouble between the Negros and White people in Montgomery and the Klan wanted to be sure the trouble would not spread to Selma. The lesson that followed that incident would be our first on how to survive as children of the civil rights movement. We were taught that because we are Christians and because we followed the commandments of Jesus Christ, we must love everybody, but do not trust anybody unless you know them.      Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BACA) is proud to present a solo exhibition by acclaimed South Florida visual artist Tommaso Fattovich. Broward College President Appointed Class C Director Of Federal Reserve Bank Of Atlanta

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta has appointed Broward College President Gregory Adam Haile, J.D., as a Class C director on its board of directors, for a term that began January 1 and will run through December 31, 2023. As a Class C director, Haile will serve on the executive committee, alongside the chair and vice chair, to perform essential functions of the Bank, including reviewing and approving its budget and strategic plan and assessing its performance. History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will celebrate its 60th Anniversary in the South Florida community beginning February 23. As part of its diamond anniversary year, History Fort Lauderdale will present its second visual tribute to impactful female leaders in South Florida, a PRIDE month LGBT+ exhibit, an environmental artist’s showcase, a Hispanic heritage celebration and a narrative highlighting the rise of craft beer and breweries in Broward County.
