BNC, which officially launches at 6 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 has agreements with Charter Communications, Comcast and DISH TV. The network already has commitments for carriage in major African American hubs like Atlanta, New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, Philadelphia, Detroit, Washington, DC, Baltimore and Los Angeles.

The City of Miramar Commissioners have approved $500,000 in funding for a commercial rehabilitation project in Historic Miramar. The grant was awarded to B&M Bakery and West Indian Grocery, located at 6959 Miramar Parkway, Miramar, FL 33023. The funding is an initiative to assist commercial property owners in the Historic area of Miramar and to complement nearby neighborhood improvements such as the Shirley Branca Park Bandshell and streetscape.

Even after finding the defendant guilty after deliberating her fate for just three hours, the jury recommended a sentence of just 10 years in prison for Guyger’s September 2018 assassination of her neighbor, Botham Jean. The debate marked the first presidential campaign debate at an HBCU since 2007.

         Many African Americans and Democrats rallied around Stacey Abrams as she took on Brian Kemp in the 2018 run for governorship in the state of Georgia. After a 10-day standoff, Abrams lost to Kemp, and chose to use her voice and reach to support causes that have greatly affected our communities for decades; voter suppression and the improper counting of Americans in the census.  Her advocacy and leadership led her to serve as the speaker for the Democratic counter State of the Union address in 2019.

     While the Mueller investigation dragged on for the first two years of President Trump’s time in office, it turned up nothing damning enough to warrant impeachment.      Authorities say a Florida police officer has been fired and is being investigated after arresting two six-year-olds for separate incidents at their schools. CBS Orlando affiliate WKMG-TV reports that Officer Dennis Turner was previously suspended pending the outcome of an internal investigation by the Orlando Police Department.
