Jazz in the Gardens (JITG) has announced the 2022 lineup for the 15th anniversary of the incredibly popular jazz and R&B music festival including Mary J. Blige, H.E.R, Rick Ross, The Isley Brothers, SWV, The Roots with special guest T-Pain, Stokely, Johnathan McReynolds, Mike Phillips and Mark Allen Felton, with local performers still to be announced. Syndicated radio host and comedian Rickey Smiley will return as the host for the 2022 JITG.

A nationally renowned punk-pop band, a Pembroke Pines elected official, a South Florida cable industry leader and doctor who is also an author, a professor, and an entrepreneur were among the distinguished Broward County high school alumni honored by Broward Education Foundation during the Publix Super Markets Charities 2021 “Hall of Fame Awards” presented by Memorial Healthcare System. The award ceremony was hosted on Thursday, December 2 on Nova High School’s Pat McQuaid Field in Davie.

The South Dade Alphas launched the environmental justice component of their initiative by creating a community garden at Avant School of Excellence, 777 West Palm Drive in Florida City on Saturday, December 11, 2021. The school-site garden will educate students on the benefits of organic farming, proper nutrition, gentrification, housing and environmental justice, advocacy, and career opportunities in the food science and agricultural industry.
