On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, School Board Member, Torey Alston, took the oath of office to become part of the Broward County School Board.

   Herschel Walker, bless his soul, took it upon himself to reveal to Republican voters and white supremacists that he’s the most unfit candidate chosen by Trump to run for office. To demonstrate his unfitness, as well as level of literacy, for office, he delivered a monologue at a rally about vampires and werewolves. This monologue made far less sense than  Trump’s continued beliefs of a stolen 2020  presidential.

Blacks and Midterm Madness

   A lot of good news came out of this month’s elections—and enough bad news to remind us that we can never let our guard down when freedom and democracy are at stake. This year, democracy itself was on the ballot, and voters made an important down payment on its future.

     Both automakers reflected best practices for ethnic diversity in five of six categories, according to the Rainbow PUSH/Citizenship Education Fund Automotive Project’s annual Automotive Diversity Scorecard.

With a gaggle of American flags hanging in the background and dozens of family members and supporters looking on, Trump declared his 2024 candidacy at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida compound.

Collectively, we have followed the rise and eventual fall of The Wendy Williams Show. Even beyond its era there remains no shortage of breaking news material associated with its Pop Culture/Hip Hop Culture  favorite Host Wendy Williams trials and tribulations. 

51 years ago, the Westside Gazette was born, like other obligations, answers, and history, out of necessity for service to the advancement of a people not to be invisible. We do understand and wholeheartedly embrace the fact that we did not come this far by ourselves without the energies, spirits, people, and prayers that have prepared us and, in some instances, carried us, we would not be here. Knowing that we don’t exist without each other we honor those who have been and are the thread to bind and create the pages of our history together.

       As I sat in the audience at the Broward Schools Board meeting on yesterday as they discussed the approved termination of superintendent Vicky Cartwright, at one time I thought that I was at a dress rehearsal of a stage play called “what went wrong with the attorney.” If you have been following the news and the saga surrounding the BROWARD COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD, you know that the superintendent has been criticized and rightfully so for her incompetency in her leadership ability as overseen in managing herself and others.
