     Legendary actress Lena Horne will be the first Black woman to have a Broadway theater named in her honor. The Brooks Atkinson Theater on West 47th Street will soon be named after the actress.

     The Ali Cultural Arts Center in Pompano Beach welcomes Jimmy Williamson to Soulful Sundays. Merging local and national artists, this program creates unforgettable musical experiences that enrich the community. The monthly series continues, on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 6 p.m., as Williamson takes the stage to perform creative renditions of beloved classics. On July 12, 2022, the trailblazing women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will celebrate 100 Years of greater excellence exemplifying their success in service and leadership across the globe. The celebration begins January 1, 2022, in New York City as they kick off their centennial with a royal affair culminating the final year in their journey to 100.

     On June 25, 2022, President Biden signed a bipartisan gun safety and control bill (The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act), which will save thousands of lives. This is a historical bill that shows that the Democrats and Republicans have the capacity to work together, if they sit down and communicate.

During the national convention marking the 195th-anniversary celebration of the Black Press of America in New Orleans, leaders of both organizations announced a get-out-to-vote campaign aimed at registering and mobilizing GOTV for 10 million more African Americans to vote in time for the 2022 midterms.
