       In March of 1827, two courageous Black men—Samuel Cornish and John B. Russwurm—published the first edition of Freedom’s Journal in New York City. With that bold act, they established what we now know as the Black Press of America.

   In April, hip hop legend and rapper DMX passed away due to a heart attack. According to several reports, DMX dies due to complications from a drug overdose. This is not the first time DMX has been linked to drugs. He has been in rehab at least three times. Despite the death, his legacy still lives on through his music. Def Jam released his last album Exodus last week.

“You shouldn’t walk into a company and say, ‘I’m gonna make this record.’ They give you an advance then for the tenure of that, the entire time your album’s out, you’re working to pay back that advance,” Williams said during the conversation. Stoute interrupted, stating, “It’s illegal.” Williams then said, “No bank gives a company a loan to start a company and walks away with the trademarks.”
