Leadership matters. Jesse Jackson’s leadership in the Civil Rights Movement in America and the human rights movement throughout the world was outstanding. Jackson uttered a strong penetrating voice for the voiceless. His courage on the battlefield for freedom, justice and equality was unparallel.

South Florida natives Malcolm and Umoja, known as Sons of Mystro, ignite the stage by blending reggae, pop and classical influences on electric string. Mentored by Black Violin, they won the IRAWMA Emerging Artist Award and released their debut, Reggae Strings. They will be joined by South Florida’s own Emmy®-nominated songwriter, performer, and impact activist Alexander Star who uses music to inspire positive change and tours with his 5-piece band, The Golden People.
‘The Wiz’ returns to Miami with local talent and a legacy of Black storytelling on stage
Now she’s coming back to Miami — and to “The Wiz,” this time playing the Good Witch Addapearle in the South Florida premiere of the show’s most recent revival. The limited engagement will take place Oct. 7-12 at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House, celebrating 50 years since the musical first opened on Broadway in 1975.
The City of Pompano Beach recently honored hometown rap artist Kodak Black with a key to the city in recognition of his charitable contributions and ongoing support for the community.
Yarbrough died on June 19, 2025, due to complications from heart disease.
