MAD Arts, an art initiative developed by MAD, an agency providing a playground for art and artmaking, is proudly displaying The Secret Garden of Lily LaPalma, a photographic exhibition displaying a series of artful photographs full of fantasy and wonderment from world renowned photographer Maggie Steber at MAD Arts (formerly Gallery of Amazing Things) located at 481 S. Federal Hwy, Dania Beach. The photographic series will be on display until December 2021. The opening of the famed photographic exhibition was held at MAD Arts on August 21 with an artist Meet & Greet with Maggie Steber and founder of MAD Marc Aptakin.

      A packed courtroom was on hand last week for Henry Lewis’s latest court hearing. At just 15 years old, Lewis has amassed more than a few charges. His latest court appearance is for a competency hearing to determine if he has the mental capacity to face trial for his latest charges: second-degree murder and armed robbery.

According to data from the CDC, those states are Vermont, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Furthermore, these states also have the least amount of Covid-19 cases in the US at this time. Based upon information from the US Department of Health and Human Services, over 43% of Florida’s ICU beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients. Additionally, there have been about 31% of ICU beds taken up by Covid-19 patients. Getting vaccinated is so important, not only for you but the people around you.

     Lighthouse of Broward recently hosted a Back-to-School event for more than 85 blind or visually impaired children who participate in the Lighthouse of Broward children’s program.  The super-fun event  included hands-on STEM activities hosted by the Museum of Discovery and Science, Build Your Own Bear, snow cone treats, lunch and more.

     October 1-31, 2021, will be the Tenth Annual Month of Families, Non-Violence and Opportunities (Month of Non-Violence), sponsored by Black Women for Positive Change, a national multi-cultural, interfaith and inter-generational organization. The Month of Non-Violence is dedicated to promoting violence prevention, de-escalation of violence, stopping law enforcement violence against communities of color, family violence, gang violence and community violence. Over the past ten (10) years members of Black Women for Positive Change have helped to organize over 162 events, in 27 U.S. cities, the United Kingdom and Republic of Congo and their efforts have reached over 162,000 people.
