   The media company that for decades was known as Radio One Inc. for its stable of radio stations across the country, changed its name in 2017 to Urban One, a new name that reflects, its owners believed, its channeled mission of providing media content to urban audiences via all forms of media through its divisions including radio, television programming with its TV One cable network and now the Internet.

Based on his viewpoint that the historic contributions of the Hip-Hop generation has largely been ignored by popular culture, actor and Comedian Doug E. Doug has released his first novel titled, “The Fall of 1987,” which tells dramatic story of a young Black man investigating the mysterious death of his brother during the rise of the Hip-Hop genre.

     “I am very proud that the Tiger Trail Festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary,” said Edward Phillips, event chairperson. “Originally, this program was conceived to celebrate the importance of Black History Month, but today in the spirit of inclusion, the festival honors ‘Agents of Change,’ celebrating the contributions made by  all of Pompano Beach’s citizens, Black and white, who have contributed to building our city, through services and economic empowerment.”
