Whether it’s a degree, a promotion, or a little more financial security, those wins can slowly make us forget that success doesn’t mean we’ve “made it”, it means we’ve been entrusted with a little more to give back.

Laws’s older sister Jovita Cheryl Moffett confirmed the rapper’s death in a phone call with The Times. Laws died Monday at Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield, Mich.

On a recent call with the proud 1986 Howard University graduate, Mr. Barnwell, now in Pasadena California, has a calm demeanor and a passionate yet measured speech that held not even an ounce of bitterness.
