       After returning to Fort Lauderdale, she and her sisters attended the Old Dillard School. She loved playing basketball and singing with the Chorus.  In 1955, history was made by her performance to sing on the PBS Channel accompanied by her chorus teacher Mrs. Rhoda Snead. Because of her academics acumen – Class of 1955 – she was chosen as Salutatorian.

The family of Atatiana Jefferson, an African American mother from Fort Worth, Texas, who was shot and killed by a police officer in October 2019, has reached a proposed $11.25 million settlement with the city. The agreement comes nearly six years after her death.

     Pompano Beach Arts has announced the complete lineup for the much anticipated second annual Jazz Fest Pompano Beach taking place Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21, 2023.   The headlining act for Friday night’s concert on the Great Lawn by the beach is 13-time Grammy Award-nominated jazz fusion band Spyro Gyra.  Performing Saturday afternoon in Old Town Pompano Beach is a stellar selection of jazz artists including Nanny Assis, Fanni Sárközy, Yanier Horta, Julio Montalvo and the Fabulous Dixie Kings, and the FIU Jazz Big Band with the FIU Student Vocal Studio.      Introducing DC comics latest crime combatant, Black Adam. His superhero traits are similar to Superman’s (flying, ultra-strength, etc.), but there are key differences. One has a pleasant personality and values human lives, and the other, an angry malcontent, doesn’t give a flying leap. One was born on Krypton and grew up on earth, which many moviegoers already know. However, less is known about the enigmatic bad boy. Hence this origin film, which needs to establish Black Adam’s beginnings, why he’s so embittered and how he fits into the world, or at least the DC comics universe.
